Position: Head Teacher
Fair Labor Standards Act Wage Classification: Non-exempt
Reports to: Director
Compensation: Paid hourly on a bi-weekly basis
Qualifications:
AA or BS/BA in Early Childhood Education or related field as defined in PA Code, Title 55. Public Welfare, Department of Public Welfare, Chapter 3270 and 2
years experience working with children.
Prerequisites for employment:
Must obtain health assessment and TB test (negative result) before employment and continue to keep both current and up to date per Chapter 3270 of PA Code, Title 55.
Must complete appropriate clearances (per Chapter 3270 of PA Code, Title 55.) before start of employment and returned to employer before the 30th calendar day after start date. Employer will pay for clearances, if employee leaves before 90 days of employment the cost of the clearances will be deducted from the last pay check.
Physical ability required:
Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds, if working in Infant, Pretoddler or Toddler classrooms lifting and carrying of children will be frequent
Must be able to stand for extended period of time
Must be able to get down at the children's level and get up unassisted
Must be able to react quickly to the needs of the children and classroom
Must be able to both see and hear the children in the classroom at all times
Skills required:
Ability to work in a changing environment
Positive, proactive and team oriented attitude to create a successful team environment
Good verbal and written communication ability with parents, children and other members of the team
Ability to supervise Assistant Teachers in order to motivate and empower them to be quality employees
Able to train on curriculum, lesson planning, best practices and any other matters that will be communicated by the director and/or owner
Able to follow a strict adherence and implementation of all policies and procedures in the employee handbook, your job description and any other information verbally instructed by the director and/or owner
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the execution of all matters within the classroom, some examples are adherence of best practices, all policies and procedures, daily implementation of schedule and any other matter dictated by the director/owner
Create positive and productive relationships and communications between yourself, assistant teachers, parents and children
Maintain a commitment to professionalism
Supervise all children and Assistant Teachers within the classroom
Create a warm, inviting and organized environment for both children and parents
Keep classroom and all areas neat, orderly, safe and healthy
Attend all mandatory staff meetings
Attend a minimum of 18 hours of approved professional development annually
Must continue education in pursuit of at least an Associates Degree in ECE or related field or attain the 18 credits in ECE in related courses if degreed but in another field of study within 6 months of employment (per the PA Early Learning Keys to Quality Career Lattice)
Keep director informed in advance of any program needs
Follow all guidelines set forth and in accordance with the Keystone Stars Quality Rating Program
Perform all other job related activities assigned by the director/owner
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
